The department of Management was founded in 1979 to impact holistic management education to potential young managers. Special emphasis remains on nurturing personal integrity and social responsibility. With its massive infrastructure base of well-equipped library and computer labs, seminar and conference rooms, the Department of Management facilitates better contemporary management education to the students. It is committed to trigger-off the scholars to become managers, leaders, innovators, challengers and continuous learners.
The department has its own highly qualified and experienced core faculty besides adjunct faculty drawn from the different departments of BIT. The department has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation. AICTED and was given 'B' grade. The MBA curriculum has been carefully , designed to balance theory with practice as one of the most important developmental activities of the department. The two year full-time Program consists of forty-two paper spread over six trimesters. During the first trimester core courses cover areas of General Management and present all overview of the specialization papers. In the fourth and fifth trimesters, dual specialization courses are offered. In the sixth trimester, along with core courses students opt for sectoral specialization. The students undertake one project each in their functional area of specialization and their sectoral specialization. The students also undergo a two month intensive on job training in industries during their summer vacation. It gives them the required exposure to real life work environment. Students are also exposed to one foreign language other than English. It helps in their better placement in corporate world.
