"Necessity is the mother of Invention", This is an idiom, we have grown up with. And on a fateful day of 2002, this idiom because a reality that has continued to dazzle since then. This was the emergence of the News and Publishing society (NAPS) of BIT Lalpur Ext. Centre. NAPS was formed with the very idea of catering to the information requirements of this extension regarding various events and growing talents. It is an inspiring society which aims at promoting talent by conduction different event. Naps is one of the oldest society of BIT.

In the Aarohan of April 2004, the annual festival of this center, NAPS emerged as a champion in organizing events like Brand Equity, Ad-mad show and the biggest event in the history of the extension, that drew an all time high sponsorship from UTI-Bank, Mega Antakshri.

2006, proved to be one of the most successful years for NAPS. It walked a way ahead, organizing six events. It all began with "Business Baazigar" that tested the entrepreneurial skills of the students. The next big event was a seminar on preparation for CAT-2006 and 'Handling stress' on 24th March, 06. It was followed by a 'Mock CAT' test on 25th March, 06 to help the students sort out their difficulties NAPS organized a follow up session on 31st March Recently NAPS conducted a mega event ' VIGYAN'. Around 600 students participated in this event. The event was divided into 3 phases of 'Selection round', ' fun geometry' and "Ad-mad show'. The Hon'ble guests were the Brand Manager from Prabhat Khabar, Mr.Ashik Badani and the program Executive of Doordarshar Dr.B.N.Singh.

Today NAPS is looking forward towards promoting and portraying more talent and conducting mary more events in the near future under the president ship of Divya Narayan with her team members under the guidance of Mr. T.K.Banerjee string to reach the zenith of success.
